Abstract

Currently, the economy of the Russian Federation is characterized by the presence of many problems that are provoked by the influence of external and internal factors. The introduction of sanctions as a result of geopolitical disagreements had a negative impact on the investment attractiveness of the Russian economy. The structure of foreign direct investment in the Russian economy has changed, so the volume of investment from the European Union countries has decreased. However, the development of the economy of a modern state is impossible without attracting international investment and increasing the level of investment attractiveness of the Russian economy. In the current situation, one of the promising areas for the development of investment activities is international cooperation within the framework of new economic unions, which include the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). The EAEU member countries have a certain investment potential, the implementation of which requires significant financial investments. The Russian Federation occupies a leading position among the EAEU countries, but it should be noted that the investment policy within the union is aimed at developing the economies of all participating countries. The mechanisms of investment cooperation of the Eurasian Economic Union are mainly presented in the form of the implementation of joint projects aimed at developing certain sectors of the economy. The development of this investment direction is of utmost importance for Russia, as it will help overcome the investment crisis.
