Abstract

The concept of balance is in high demand in economic research in the first quarter of the 21st century, but its substantive presentation is ambiguous. Research interpretation of balance is determined by the details of the context in which it is formed. This concept is most specifically defined in the context of foreign trade and the budgetary and financial sphere. The purpose of this article is to study balance in relation to economic resources and aspects of their spatial distribution. The conjugation of balance with the concepts of relationship, development, structure, proportions, compliance, sustainability, connectivity and others is revealed. The emphases of the economic-resource approach to understanding balance are highlighted. In the context of the spatial distribution of economic resources, it is considered as a correspondence between the needs for economic resources of a territorial socio-natural-economic system (spatial formation of various scales) and the possibilities of their production (reproduction) in a given location and / or attracting “external” resources on the principles of connectivity.
