Economics and sociology of modern education

Abstract

Modern education seems to be going through its bad times. The economic and sociological foundations of modern education were undoubtedly created by great thinkers, their ideas and practitioners. Nevertheless, the global trend of decreasing quality of education cannot but cause concern. The object of the study is education and upbringing. The subject of research - economics and sociology of modern education. The aim of the research is to answer the question on objective and scientific grounds: what is modern education from the economic and sociological position of science? In the research we consider the milestones of education and upbringing development as stages of evolution of pedagogical science. We present the difference between project-oriented and knowledge-oriented approach. We con­sider commercially oriented pedagogical systems: Montessori, Waldorf, Reggio, reveal their content and applied expediency of their implementation. We consider how the English sci­entist Herbert Spencer and his ideas influenced modern education. The content of the proj­ect-oriented approach prevailing in modern education in Russia is analysed in sequence. We present the view of foreign scientists and our own assessment of the effectiveness of this approach in education. We analyse the effectiveness of the implementation of the national project ‘Education’. We consider key performance indicators, with special emphasis on patri­otic education. We present our own qualitatively defined assessment of the effectiveness of the implementation of the national project ‘Education’ in Russia. We reveal the essential problems of modern education and enlightenment in Russia.
